I am an experienced Primary and Secondary school teacher, having taught Mandarin, Spanish and Italian across Key Stages 1–5 since 2017. Alongside my classroom teaching, I have extensive experience in private tuition, designing bespoke programmes that help students develop strong foundations, build confidence and achieve their academic potential.

11+ Entrance Exams and Interview Preparation

One of my particular areas of expertise is preparing children for 11+ entrance examinations and independent school admissions.

Through my role as Deputy Head of an Independent Girls’ Sixth Form, I have gained valuable first-hand experience of the school admissions process, including interviewing numerous candidates at the second stage of 11+ entrance assessments. This gives me a valuable insight into what schools are looking for in prospective pupils and allows me to provide highly targeted preparation for children approaching this important stage of their education.

I understand that success in the 11+ process is not simply about academic knowledge. It is also about helping children develop the confidence, communication skills and independence needed to demonstrate their abilities, particularly in an interview setting.

My 11+ tuition can include individualised interview preparation, helping students to articulate their thoughts clearly, respond thoughtfully to unfamiliar questions and discuss their interests and experiences with confidence. I aim to make the interview process feel less daunting by familiarising children with the types of questions and conversations they may encounter and encouraging them to express themselves naturally rather than rely on rehearsed answers.

Having taught extensively at both primary and secondary levels, I understand the transition between these stages of education and can tailor my approach to each child's individual needs, strengths and areas for development.

My Teaching Approach

My teaching philosophy is grounded in the firm belief that, with the right support, every learner can succeed. I take time to understand each student's abilities, learning style and goals, creating a supportive environment in which they feel comfortable asking questions, taking on challenges and developing independence.

I also have extensive pastoral experience and have received training to work with students with special educational needs (SEN). Through my role as Head of PSHE, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of inclusivity, emotional wellbeing and personalised support in education.

I recognise that preparing for entrance examinations can be a challenging experience for children and their families. My aim is therefore not only to help students prepare effectively but also to ensure that they approach their assessments feeling confident, capable and well supported.
