Joseph - Primary School Teacher, English, Maths, Science, SATs, 11+, entrance exams

I have been a primary school teacher since qualifying in 2009, including roles as maths & science subject coordinator and as phase leader.

Alongside my school-based career, I have privately tutored pupils from Year 1 through to Year 10 in all core subjects. I have successfully prepared children for SATs, delivered targeted booster sessions, supported secondary school students, and prepared pupils for the 11+ and private school entrance examinations. My tutoring approach is highly personalised, supportive, and focused on building confidence, resilience, and independent learning as well as academic progress.

I have extensive experience with SEN students, especially with autism and ADHD, which has given me a deep personal understanding of neurodiversity, inclusion, and the importance of tailored support in education. This experience strongly informs my calm, structured, and empathetic approach to tutoring.

I am an enthusiastic, well-organised, and approachable tutor who values clear communication with pupils and parents. I tailor every session to meet individual needs, respond positively to feedback, and consistently support learners to make strong, measurable progress.

My son is in year 5 and Joe has supported him since year 3.  My daughter is in year 9 and Joe has supported since Year 7. Joe supports them both with Maths and English. My daughter in particular needs more understanding as she has Autism, ADHD and dyslexia and was really struggling at school.

Joe came highly recommend by a number of local parents and we have been very pleased. Both children have grown in confidence in their learning and teachers have communicated the gains made. We tried lots of tutors before Joe and we struggled to find one that could build a rapport with the children so they felt comfortable to learn.

Joe is reliable, has excellent communication and the children look forward to see him. He makes learning accessible and fun and builds up a great rapport with them. He offers concise feedback after sessions and has clear learning objectives for each session.

I would highly recommend.
