Katie - Qualified Primary school teacher - Early years, KS1, 7+

Hi, I’m Katie. I am a qualified primary teacher with a master’s degree in education and extensive experience teaching Early Years and Key Stage One. I currently work in an independent school in London and have over a decade of experience supporting children aged 3–7 in both classroom and small-group settings.
Throughout my career, I have worked across a range of roles, including Class Teacher and Year Group Lead, which has given me a strong understanding of child development, early learning and how to support children at different stages of their educational journey. I have experience supporting children with early literacy, phonics and reading development, as well as foundational maths skills. Having taught internationally, I also have strong experience supporting children learning English as an additional language, helping them to build confidence, vocabulary and early communication skills. I am particularly experienced in supporting children who benefit from additional structure and tailored guidance.
I believe that every child can thrive when learning feels positive, purposeful and confidence-building. I aim to create a calm, nurturing learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and developing independence in their learning.
My tutoring sessions are carefully planned yet flexible, tailored to each child’s needs, interests and learning style. I use engaging, age-appropriate activities to make learning meaningful and enjoyable while ensuring evident progress. I regularly monitor progress to identify misconceptions early and support children in developing a secure understanding.
I place a strong emphasis on children’s wellbeing alongside academic development, supporting confidence, resilience and positive learning habits.
