After studying English and French at Oxford University, I spent a year teaching English in a French Secondary School and a year in a Spanish Primary School. I currently tutor English, phonics and French with a particular emphasis on Primary school-aged children (Early years, KS1 & 2).

I have helped students prepare for SATS, phonics screening and also entrance exams. I also volunteer to help children with their reading, phonics and communication skills at a local primary school.

Having worked abroad and as a linguist myself, I understand the challenges faced by those with English as a second or third language and work with students to overcome those challenges during my lessons.

I love instilling an enjoyment of language in my students and building their confidence, which is key to success. I pride myself on being adaptable to different learning styles and personalities, bringing out the best in students and putting them at their ease.

I am based in South Wimbledon and am available for both in-person or online tuition. I have a current, enhanced DBS check.

Fun fact: I worked for many years at the charity Comic Relief managing corporate clients including Sainsbury’s, Oxfam and TK Maxx, promoting the famous Red Nose merchandise and working with company employees to help them achieve their fundraising and corporate goals.

"Vikki has been supporting our two trilingual children (7 and 5) since the early years with a focus on phonics, reading, comprehension, writing and grammar. Vikki is excellent at making lessons fun and interesting for them while also ensuring that the content is well structured and suitably challenging. Her support has been extremely helpful in laying strong foundations from an early age."

"We asked Vikki to help our 4 years old son with phonics and English in general as English was his second language and believed that he could benefit from one-to-ome sessions with a tutor. Our son was very shy and did not say a word during the first sessions. He did not even look at her. But Vikki was perseverant and had a lot of patience and kindness to convince him to engage and start talking. The activities were fun and kept him interested throughout the session. He grew from the little boy who ran when Vikki opened the door for the first session, to looking forward to spend time with her. He did great with phonics and started engaging with colleagues in school as he became more confident with speaking English. I couldn’t be more thankful for the positive impact the sessions had on him."

"Vikki has taught our two children (now 8 and 5) for several years. She is an excellent tutor - friendly, approachable, adaptable and always professional.

Vikki gave my daughter the confidence she needed to overcome the struggles she had with spelling. She was a reluctant reader with possible ADHD who didn’t enjoy the synthetic phonics approach used in school but Vikki persevered, trying different methods until she found what worked for my daughter. Vikki also helped her prepare for her KS1 SATS, helping her to one of the top results in the school.

Our son on the other hand is a voracious learner who actively asks for more advanced work. Vikki has found creative ways to stretch and challenge him rather than simply skipping ahead.

I would wholly recommend Vikki. She is a natural tutor who learns what the child needs and personalises her tutoring to the individual.
